// THE PLUGIN
Plugin: Supported Tools
One command — `curl -fsSL https://omna.dev/cli/install.sh | bash` — covers as much as possible on its own. Everything below is either already automatic or a one-time, one-line manual step. Nothing is hidden: if a tool isn't covered yet, it's listed here with the real reason.
Automatic — omna init wires these for you
No setup beyond the install command. If the tool is already on your machine, it's covered the moment you run omna init.
| Tool | What happens |
|---|---|
| Claude Code | Wired every time, automatically |
| aider | Wired if already installed |
| Codex CLI | Wired if already installed |
| VS Code (Copilot Chat, and similar chat extensions) | Wired if VS Code is installed — covers the extension host's own network calls, not just the visible chat window |
| Continue (VS Code/JetBrains extension) | Wired if you've already configured at least one Claude or GPT model in it |
One-time manual step — the tool only offers an in-app setting, no file we can safely edit
Each of these takes one setting, typed once, inside the tool itself.
- Cursor — Settings (⌘,) → Models → Override OpenAI Base URL → paste your Omna address. (Cursor has a separate field for Claude — use that one for Claude, this one for everything else.)
- Cline — Settings (⚙️) → provider → check "Use custom base URL" → paste your Omna address.
- Windsurf (being renamed Devin Desktop) — AI Settings → API Base URL → paste your Omna address.
Browsers — a named list, not "every website"
On a Mac, omna init also covers browsers — but only for a specific, named list of AI chat sites (claude.ai, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, and similar). Any other website is completely untouched, on purpose — Omna never looks at anything except AI traffic.
Don't see a site you use? Add it yourself, no code, no waiting on us:
omna hosts add somesite.comIt's covered immediately — no restart needed. Remove it just as easily:
omna hosts remove somesite.comSee everything currently covered with omna hosts (no arguments).
Not supported yet — and why, honestly
- Gemini CLI, Amazon Q Developer CLI — these speak Google's and Amazon's own message formats, not the two formats (Anthropic, OpenAI) Omna currently understands. This needs real engine work, not just a setting.
- GitHub Copilot CLI — there is currently no way for any tool to redirect this, from anyone. GitHub hasn't shipped a way to do it yet.
We're adding to this list. If a tool you use isn't here, tell us at omna.dev.
